Wedding Inspiration: Borrow These Blue Ideas!

“Something blue” has long been linked with weddings. The hue - back in the day - symbolised purity and fidelity. The great thing about using this wedding colour is that it can be both feminine and masculine, all at once. (Basically, you get what you want without making him feel weird partying alongside foo-foo pinks.) Blue is a popular favourite colour amongst males, perhaps stemming from their years swathed in it as an infant!

The palette ranges from deep and dramatic navy all the way to soft and delicate peony, or fun and light-hearted teal and turquoise. Pair it with other shades of the same with white, silver or grey for a more subtle look, or use it as an accent for a bright orange or racing green. Whatever you do, make it your own. You can never go wrong doing that.

Take our blue cues for some wedding inspiration:

Play bluesy

Blue wedding gowns were all the rage on the Spring 2013 Bridal Fashion Week runways. Hot-to-trot designers, like Oscar de la Renta, Angel Sanchez, Lazaro, Henry Roth and Michelle Roth, and Carolina Herrera, sported the shade in their frothy convections in both head-to-toe and accented (belt or floral pattern) options.
